Make your reasoning visible

AI can help examine a decision when you bring more than a request for a verdict. Explain the choice, the options you are considering, and the reasons you currently favour one. A visible line of reasoning gives the conversation something to inspect: an assumption, a tradeoff, or a question that has not yet been answered.

Imagine choosing between two ways to publish a newsletter. One is familiar and quick; the other offers more control but takes longer to set up. The useful discussion concerns your audience, available time, and need for flexibility. A confident recommendation means little if those criteria stay hidden.

Compare possibilities deliberately

Ask for an alternative that serves the same goal, or for the strongest reason against your preferred approach. Then compare each possibility using your own criteria. A response may reveal an overlooked option, but you still need to check whether it fits the real constraints and information available to you.

Keep a short record of the decision and what would make you reconsider it. This separates exploration from commitment and gives future experience a place to land. The value of the conversation is clearer reasoning: you can explain why an option fits, which uncertainty remains, and what evidence would justify a different choice.
